Tired family, Lourmarin

At the end of a long, hot market day

Oignons, Lourmarin

I love the green tint on these local onions

From Christine's

Laurent and Christine, Saignon, Chez Christine

Chez Christine is the heart and soul of our village. All gossip, news and meetings happen here in the morning, over a croissant, sacristain, palmier to jesuite and a cup of tea or coffee.  Christine is the center of it all. Laurent is the manager of the newly opened Auberge du Presbytere in the fountain square a great place for and apero in the afternoon.

Vine buds, Saignon

These vines flower every Autumn. They are tough and have nice leaves. These buds are the start of the flowering and look to me like the shots from the telescopes in space. Many new galaxies forming. Soon the will be even more spectacular.

Cavaillon melons, Apt.

These are, to me, the best melons anywhere, that I have ever tasted. They are related to cantaloupes but are like a distilled version. Sweet and fresh.

Apt ghost

There is a great little mini produce market in Apt that has beautiful fruits and veggies. During the hotter months they rig this up to protect the product.

Fredo in his chimney.

Our friend Fredo and his wife Mary have finished their dining, garden, sun room after years of perfectionist effort. Fredo, whose smoking is severely frowned upon has a special chair under a chimney where he can roll one and have a smoke.

Fig story

Ian and Jane gave us a basket of figs from their tree. Lovely, huge and ripe. I found a recipe involving sprinkling some sugar on the halved figs and using a little creme brûlée torch on them. Being one torch short, I sautéed them and served them with this lovely burrata. Oh wow!
