Grass and poppies, Saignon

Apt market

Asparagus and leg, Apt

Succulents, Saignon

Provence is heaven for succulents. Mostly dry, low humidity and lots of rock walls with poor soil.

Bikers, Saignon

These two Canadian gentlemen are back in Saignon for the  second year in a row. They do long hard rides and then relax in the evening. Nice guys.

Old La Poste building, Saignon

Window, Saignon

This little alley always has interesting and creative arrangements. I suspect artistes.

My car at home.

This is my new Hyundai Genesis at home. Way too big for Provence but a nice quiet ride. Who would have thought Hyundai would make a car like this twenty years ago?

Goult

One of the first times we came to Provence we stayed in Goult. This vine was just about doorway height. I took a picture of Janie in front of it and have done it again over the years. The vine is huge now, Janie remains perfect.

Here is a field of vines in our first week here. I'll keep making progress shots.

Bistrot D'Atelier, Saignon

Our first lunch this year was at Bistrot d'Atelier, a good 50 feet from our front door. Every day Shannon, the chef owner, puts out a buffet of various wonderful concoctions, charcuterie, aioli and general wonderfulness.

Birthday happiness, L'Estrade, St. Sat.

For her birthday I took Janie to her favorite restaurant, L'estrade in St. Saturnin, where she had her favorite lunch, crayfish salad with grapefruit. The salad you see is mine, sans grapefruit, due to complications with medications.

Aux Fines Herbes, Goult

Aux Fines Herbes is a tiny restaurant in Goult, just up the street from the commercial and touristy Cafe de la Poste. We were recommended it three years ago and had a great lunch there. Since then, when we have tried, they were closed for lunch. This year they were open!!! This was my wonderful lunch. Sauman tartare, fresh courgette and carrot salade and frites. With a fresh rose it was a great light lunch. Highly recommended.

St. Saturnin les Aptes

A rapidly gentrifying hill town that retains a lot of color and charm.

Last year's tea room is this year's restaurant.

All the ivy has that Spring green

Shannon's and Juli's businesses are thriving.

Just settling into our little house in Saignon.
