 This is a volunteer tree that showed up in my garden. It has soft wood and nice leaves but is nothing spectacular until November when it is covered with these tiny soft flowers then shedding them all over where they look like feathers.

I planted this tree 25 years ago. It took a long time to produce beautiful grapefruit, red fleshed and juicy. By that time I was on two medications that forbade grapefruit...sigh

The University of Florida has addressed the plague of these invasive air potatoes by releasing an insect that loves to eat them. I am hoping that the bug was vetted and will not join the list of solutions that become problems. They have reached our area and are turning the vines into Swiss cheese. Yay!

I have two pomegranate bushes. One is on the dock, in full sun and the other in shade in the garden. The shaded one has always produced tiny fruit that didn't fully ripen. In fact I thought it was a dwarf pomegranate. I had to cut down three trees in the yard, which exposed it to much more sun. It has thrived and set a bunch of fruit at much closer to full size. Next year it should be covered.
