Under the lights at Maison de Solveig, Saignon

Our first dinner out was at our old favorite Maison de Solveig. A wonderful little bistro/art gallery. Astrid Solveig, the chef and owner, keeps the place open from April or May to the end of September. The rast of the year she paints and does assemblages that end up in the restaurant. I had calamari and chorizo this night.

Pistache! Solveig, Saignon

Our favorite dessert is three boules of pistachio ice cream at Solveig. We never eat ice cream at home, but in Provence it is our indulgence.................along with the wine, the food, the views.....,..oh hell, Provence is our indulgence and this is a nice dessert!

A night at Maison Solveig, Saignon

As a Vache qui Rit lover, I always get a kick out of the logo.
Laura is a great waitress. This will be her last year at Solveig as it is time for her to move on. She is a rugby player and hopes to try out for the French women's team. She is 34 and very smart, fluent in English and Spanish.
 Interior, Maison Solveig
Solveig is the woman who owns and cooks for Maison Solveig. When the weather gets cold she shuts for the winter and goes back to her main love, art. She is a wonderful painter and she made this delicate little chandelier that delights when it is on and blinking.
She also makes a mean daube.

With Laure, Solveig, Saignon

One of our favorite restaurants in town was only open for our first week. Solveig, the owner, is a wonderful artist and opens her bistro from April through September. Laure is her Maitresse D' . She speaks three or four languages and is a delight to know. These were taken at the closing night party. We were all quite happy.
