Fete de la Musique, Saignon

This illustrates why we come back here time after time. Saignon is a small village of about 1,000 people. Almost monthly there is an event that draws most of the town to watch, listen or, in the case of Paella night, eat and drink. This year there was a circus running rampant through town from 7:30-10:30. This crowd is seated at the end of the main street through town to watch acrobats on a huge net strung between two massive plane trees. The little children were automatically given the front row and the larger ones behind them until the adults filled in. When we are here we feel part of the village, a feeling impossible to repeat in even our small north Florida town, because we are so spread out and car dependent and have no central area to do these kinds of things. So, for two months of the year we are Saignonese and for ten months we are Floridians.
