Dinner in, Rue Cilly, Saignon

 Aperos and hors d'oeuvres
 Chicken and risotto
Digestifs and Picard's addictive cookies

A lovely evening.

Lonely mailbax,

This mailbox is halfway down a large hedge between two driveways. I don't know which house it serves, but it serves without complaint.

Hydrant, Saignon

Farmer Bob's onion field, Bonnieux bike path, West

We have walked this path often over the years and have watched this farmer work his fields. We nicknamed him Farmer Bob. He is very good at his vocation (farming is not a "job", almost every farmer loves his chosen occupation.). These fields rotate crops and lay fallow on a schedule. This field was fallow last Autumn and had Winter wheat the previous Spring. Soon he will harvest and there will be a picture of the new crop.

Wheat and poppies, Bonnieux bike path, West

This year we are a bit late for the full poppy bloom. There are still plenty of them but not the eye-straining expanses of red you get earlier. The trade-off for us is that we will finally see the lavender in it's glory. These guys popped up yesterday. This is another of Farmer Bob's fields.

Our little Clio.

Our rental this year is a Renault Clio. In the same size class as the VW Polo. It is a neat little car. The trunk easily swallowed both our bags and two carry-ons. It is, of course, a manual transmission with a small diesel engine. It is plenty of car for here. Enough power to keep up, lots of room, and that wonder, a French suspension. German compacts may be a tiny bit more fun to drive, but the little French cars are a nicer ride. This little guy feels like my Hyundai Sonata at home, a much larger car.

Hortensia/Hydrangea, Mireille's garden, siagnon

I walked by Mireille's garden and complimented her on her hydrangeas. She corrected me and said "Hortense pas hydrangea." I have looked them up and found the two are identical, but named differently in different parts of the world. They are lovely no matter what their name.
