Window and vines, Apt bike path, West

I liked the colors here. I came back a week later and the owner had removed the rose vine. More proof of the axiom for photographers that says, "Take the picture now, it won't be there again."

Weed flowers, Apt bike trail, West

There are a couple of vines in the Luberon that take over if left to their own devices. One is actually quite attractive. But, so is English ivy and ask people in the Pacific Northwest how they feel about that vine. Both vines are tough and fast growing. They have these delicate flowers in the Autumn.

Stencil graffiti, train station, Apt

You pick up the walking trails in Apt by going to the old train station. The trail is the old rail bed. The back of the station has the usual graffiti, most of it lacking any originality, but this struck me. I have never seen graffiti on a rock. This stencil was repeated on the building. It's a rather sad picture of a young man. I have made up numerous stories in my head about what or who he was.

We are home, but more posts from France will follow.

For anyone feeling sorry for us that we are not in Provence anymore. Remember that we live in a pretty spectacular place with great friends.

Chicken, Saignon

They are everywhere.

Clare's daughter and granddaughter, L'Estrade, St. Saturnin

Half of the time when we go to L'Estrade, we see people from previous visits. This year we ran into Clare who worked with Henrietta Taylor when we rented from her. This is her daughter and baby girl. What you can't see is the grandson who was just days away from being born.

Wasp monolith, Apt bike path, West

Tree and truck, Apt bike path, West

My Japanese flag of the week;-)

Derilict hydrant, Apt bike path, West

Every now and then they'll wander off with a few bottles of wine............

Antydote, Apt

People here love to play with words. This is a skate shop. My favorite sign in Apt was on a van. The business sold wheelchairs, crutches etc. The name of the business was Handic'Apt.

Prozak, Apt

Don't know if this is a pen name or misspelled advertising.

View north from Saignon.

The first house we stayed in in Saignon was in the trees up that driveway with a kink in it. The house was called Les Lantins and I believe it is still rentable. It has 3 or 4 bedrooms and nice kitchen, lovely grounds and a pool. The yeae that we rented here we discovered the rentals in Saignon proper and switched to there. If you travel as two or three couples you should give this place a look. The tiny little stone house in the field is also for rent from the same people. Two rooms on two floors and very quaint.

Mireille's garden, detail, Saignon

Mireille is a lady in Saignon who rents out rooms in a house called La Belle Vue. By the front door she has packed an incredible container garden into a very small space. There are flowers and foliage plants and little things like these. She is very creative and keeps adding things. I believe Poe was new this trip.

Shadows at walk's end, Saignon

Every afternoon we took a short walk to build up an appetite. This is at the entrance to Saignon. We always stop at the wall and look out over Andrew's garden and the valley down to Apt.

Innocent graffiti, Isle sur la Sorgue

A career just starting out.
