Inspecteur des Peches, Lourmarin

Every Friday we go to the Lourmarin market. Ian and I drop the two Janes off to cruise the market and we park the car and gofer a walk in the hills around Lourmarin. I said that these trees looked like peaches, which aren't grown here much. He said plums. I said that the two trees looked very similar, so he went into the field to inspect. They are peaches.

Fields, Lourmarin, Saignon

I love fields. The top one, in Lourmarin, is where the last of the poppies are holding out. The bottom one is on our morning walk down the hill, around the valley and up the hill. My legs are slowly gettin used to hills. Thank you Spin class.

Apero party, our first week here.

It is a tradition here to have people over for "aperos" which are meant to be a few nibbles and a glass of wine before dinner. Here it means a table groaning with food and some wine, augmented by every guest as they arrive. We had our friends, Ian and Jane over and were joined by our neighbors, Mary and Frederic and a new friend, Elio. Three hours and 6 bottles of wine later, aperos were over and everyone was happy.

Our first apero night, Saignon

We had planned a nice evening with Ian and Jane. We had a new bottle of white Chateau Neuf du Pape from V comme Vin, and a nice assortment of nibbles. They brought along a nice bottle of white Vacqueyras. Mary joined us and the wines were lovely, the food good and the company superb. Soon Fredo joined us and the Elio, a new friend, from Venezuela. Five bottles later we went to our homes, happy. The two Janes shone as you can see here.
