St. Saturnin les Aptes

A rapidly gentrifying hill town that retains a lot of color and charm.

The French wrest a title from Jacksonville Beach that I thought was safe forever.

Two or three years ago, on my other blog, North Florida Pictures, I posted a group of pictures of handicap signs painted on parking places. Whoever did them tried to do them freehand, from memory, despite the fact that there were plenty of perfect ones within walking distance. I said at the time that no one could do a worse job. Leave it to some bright light in the St. Saturnin Les Aptes work force to prove me wrong.

Lunch at L'Estrade

These two salades, The chevre chaud above and the crayfish grapefruit below are perfect on a hot day. The grapefruit interferes with my heart medication so Anne-Laurence, the chef has said she would make it without the grapefruit.....next week!

Restaurant L'Estrade, St. Saturnin

This is the exterior of L'Estrade for anyone who goes to St. Saturnin. Most highly recommended.

Last lunch at L'Estrade

On our last day, we had to go to L'Estrade for lunch. Janie had the lasagna with spinach and salmon and I had the salad with packets of goat cheese, warm and comforting, on top. The girls who run the joint consented to a picture with us. We miss them....and the food!

Bad picture, great salad, L'Estrade, St. Saturnin

Here is my forbidden fruit. Anne-Laurance, the chef at L'Estrade, makes a great grapefruit and crayfish salade. I take two heart meds that are neutralized by grapefruit. I love grapefruit and I love crayfish, sigh.
Janie loves this meal.
