Perfect onions, Apt market

I thought that these were lightbulbs from a distance. The presentation of produce at markets is slowly going from very rustic to "Ready for your closeup!" I prefer the less perfect displays. The garlic below is from the same display.

I bought these because they were so striking. They were delicious too.

Chez Gianni, Sivergues

Here is our elegant table at Chez Gianni. More below.

Our meal, Chez Gianni, Sivergues

This is our "little" lunch at Chez Gianni. Carol and Harvey discovered a website written by a delightful French woman, called Chocolate and Zucchini. It is a delight to read. She lived in the US for some years and writes in a clear, humorous, effortless English. She had a hilarious adventure here and got us all interested enough to try it last year and return this year.

The plate consists of a lovely green salad with croutons covered with a tapanade, an assortment of goat cheeses from freshly made that day to quite old and hard. That little bowl is the best lavender honey you can get. Underneath is a sort of country prosciutto that is chewy and rich. Accompanied by a nice red wine and a decent Rose that was decent until it reached 80f on a hot day.

They were all good.

Our Host, Chez Gianni

For the second year in a row we went to Chez Gianni, a farm/restaurant up on a hill above Sivergues. They are an active pig/goat farm and a small hotel. When you arrive you are greeted by a few goats and this pig.

Last year we were, to put it mildly, overserved. We got a giant amount of food and ate to the filling point, only to find that that was the first course. We really thought that we'd never eat again, and we didn't........'til dinner.

This year we held off on the first course and discovered that that's all we'd be getting. The pigs, goats and a very pushy cat wander around your tables while you eat.

Crepe at Le Creperie, Apt

After we made the long hike, seen in the following posts, we came in to Apt and went to one of our favorite restaurants for lunch, Le Creperie. They are so good that you have to have one for dessert.
