Solano tree
I went out to play with my new rig. A Lumix S-1R with an old Pentax Takumar 50mm f/1.4 lens that was highly touted by Mike Johnston at The Online Photographer. He gave it's history and how Asahi ordered their lens designers to make a lens as good or better than then current Leica or Zeiss, back in the 60s. They succeeded and Pentax sold them at below cost to gain market share and a reputation. It worked. I found my example on eBay for $80.00, in mint condition. It is a lovely lens, very smooth transitions and extremely sharp. Put it in front of a modern 41mp sensor and it really shines.
Wild collard. my garden
This collard plant popped up near our dock. I have a very old, six foot tall, collard, 50 feet away, that has gone to seed numerous times. I guess a bird got clumsy one day. It is in it's second year. We had some of the leaves on New Year's Day, very sweet for collards.
